We currently are seeking applicants for the following positions:
SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER / ENGINEERING MANAGER
The successful candidate will have at least 15 years experience as a project engineer / project manager, designing oil & gas processing equipment (Separators, Lineheaters, Dehys, Treaters, etc) as part of a team, in a Manufacturing or EPCM environment. Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to: analyzing customer specs; performing process sizing calculations and preliminary design at time of quote; preparing proposals, including cost estimating, and estimating software development and maintenance; detailed design work and project management; providing guidance and advice to other project engineers and draftspersons in the department; mechanical design of pressure vessels to ASME Section 8, B31.3 piping codes, and other industry standards; communicating with customers, suppliers, purchasing and shop personnel; troubleshooting and problem-solving; P.Eng status with APEGGA is required.
SENIOR COMBUSTION DESIGNER
Tornado's combustion department is growing. We are looking for a qualified engineer or technologist, ideally with 8 to 10 years combustion experience designing assisted flare stacks and/or waste gas incinerators. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) is required; familiarity with AutoCAD and Solidworks CADD software is desirable. A working knowledge of EUB, ASME and API design codes would be beneficial. Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to: analyzing customer specs; performing process sizing calculations and preliminary design at time of quote; preparing proposals, including cost estimating and project management of awarded contracts. The successful applicant must demonstrate strong communication skills as the position involves direct client contact, working in a collaborative team-based environment, and as senior designer a significant mentorship role instructing junior personnel.
INSTRUMENTATION DESIGNER
Successful applicant would have experience designing controls and CGA/CSA fuel gas trains. A working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) is required. Familiarity with Solidworks CADD software is desireable. A working knowledge of current electrical and gas codes is essential.
VESSEL FITTER/BOILER MAKER
Two positions available. Successful applicants will have experience in layout and fitting pressure vessels for oil field production. Must be able to read drawings and transfer the information to the vessel.
B-PRESSURE WELDERS
Candidates must be an Alberta Certified B-Pressure Welder with experience in a high-volume fabrication environment. Successful applicants will have the following qualities: ability to read and interpret blueprints and cut lists; the ability to use cut off saw, cutting torch, and both mig and stick welding machines; set up cut lists as required; punctuality; attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. Applicants will be required to complete a shop test prior to hiring.
3rd/JOURNEYMEN WELDERS (PM Shift)
Shift operates from 2:30 pm to 1:00 am (Mon - Thu). Successful applicants will be able to operate a grinder, overhead cranes, iron worker, band saw, flux core, mig and stick machines, oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, understand and have ability to read blueprints. Applicants registered in the Alberta Apprenticeship program are preferred.
LABOURERS
Labourers required for our Foothills fabrication facility. Two crimping machine labourers and shop cleaners are required.
INDUSTRIAL PAINTER
Tornado is seeking an experienced industrial painter in our Stettler fabrication facility. Internal coating experience would be a great asset.
